In 2016, students at PUMS, A. Kurumbapatty, Tamil Nadu, wanted to do something about the unbearable stench that emanated from their school toilet. By cutting a large plastic bottle longitudinally, they could generate the shape of a urinal. Low-cost, lightweight and durable, the students came up with a scalable solution that can easily be implemented in other schools facing a lack of infrastructure.
